Alexy Hernandez of SG1: A Rising Star from Houston Earns Call-Up to the Mexican National Team
One of our promising players at SG1 Alexy Hernandez, recently got invited to represent the Mexican National Team in the U13 Supercopa — a milestone moment that reflects years of dedication, training, and love for the game. This exciting opportunity marks a major step forward for the young player, who is commitment on and off the field continues to grow.
"I've been training a lot — like, a lot," said with excitement Hernandez, who plays the SG1 ECNL RL STXCL G11.
Her invitation to join the National Mexican team didn’t happen overnight. It's the result of consistent work, late hours on the pitch, and an unwavering mindset.
While the idea of playing for Mexico had been in her heart for some time, the opportunity came when her father found an open tryout. "I’ve been thinking about playing for the Mexican team for like a year now... and then the trial came along, so I was like, this is perfect."
At SG1, Hernandez found the right environment to sharpen her skills. "It has helped me a lot with training and playing games," she said. “Coach Hans has always helped me do everything — he’s a really good coach.” With guidance from SG1’s development-focused approach,Hernandez has grown into a dynamic, fast, and hard-working player, constantly pushing herself to improve.
When asked about what excites her most about the upcoming Supercopa with Mexico, Hernandez said, “Playing in the games, enjoying it over there, having a good time.” Beyond the pitch, she’s focused on the bigger picture — growth, fun, and learning from every experience.
Her message to other young athletes is clear: "Continue working hard for what you want and someday you could get there if you really want it." As for SG1? “They should for sure come and try out. It’s a really good team, very inclusive — it’s a nice club.”
Hernandez’s father Emilio Hernandez has been a constant presence on her journey. A former player himself, he’s seen the hours she’s put in firsthand. "She’s been playing for three years," he shared. "We get to train together, and she puts in a lot of work... almost like every day. Some with me, some with a trainer, and some on her own." That dedication, he believes, is what’s propelled her forward — both at SG1 and on the national radar.
Her father added, “She’s very blessed and very happy. The support from Coach Hans and the club has helped her build confidence, and that’s a big part of her success.”
As Hernandez prepares to wear the colors of Mexico, her journey is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when talent meets hard work, and when the right club environment nurtures young athletes. SG1 will be cheering her on every step of the way.
